Sentence of the Day
When you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret. Matthew 6:17–18
Prayer for the Day
Merciful God,
you know us through and through but still
remain patient, always calling us into truth and wholeness.
Free us from hypocrisy and shallowness of faith,
protect us from illusion and deceit,
and form in us the integrity of your Son.
Through Jesus Christ our Liberator,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
